Round 8

Round 8 of the Malaysian Super League. Nine goals scored in 2 games, three goal-less draw and one game postponed.

Johor Darul Takzim and Felda United was a very cagey affair. I did view this game at the Stadium MBPJ. All I can say is that Felda United especially Mohammed Ghaddar felt robbed of all three points after a poor refereeing decision which benefited and save the Johor goalkeeper Zamir Selamat blushes. Abas Saad who was sitting in front of me even said it was a goal! Goalkeeper caught the ball, kicked it out, Ghaddar stood out a foot and the ball went in and the officials disallowed a legitimate goal.

I will try to find video that can illustrate what I saw.

The two games Terengganu vs ATM 3-2 last minute goal. Ashaari Shamsuddin announce his come-back after a poor 2012 with the all important goal to win it for the turtles. ATM may see this as a miss opportunity to increase the gap at the top.

Pahang vs Kelantan with the enjoyment of Dez Corkhill's commentating in English. This East Coast game was lovely indeed a 2-2 all draw in the end. Drama all-round with a red card, penalty, close calls and etc. 30 shots was taken during the game. Pahang will feel a draw is a fair result. While The Red Warriors felted robbed of three points with the late penalty. The Red Warriors fans said better a point than none at all. Couldn't agree more.

Return

"The 2013 Malaysian Super League Matches have returned."

Finally after a 3 weeks breaks, local football returns.

Tomorrow 15th Feb will feature:
-Terengganu FA vs Perak
- Lions XII Fc vs Pahang
-Selangor vs Kelantan

16th of Feb:
- Felda United vs PKNS
- Johor DT FC vs T-Team
- Negeri Sembilan vs ATM

Terengganu vs Perak will be the early affair of the evening. The home team looks to shake off a bad start to the season. After games they are rooted to the bottom of the Super Legue, this is not good for the 2011 runners up. Perak under Azraai Khor will look up to challenge for top honors.

Lions XII vs Pahang will an interesting one. Both teams will have the chance to prove themselves of their abilities to contest the top half of the league. Pahang who aren't being shy of getting goals as of late. While the Lions are the most defensively form team at the moment.

Selangor vs Kelantan, the tie of the round many say. Selangor who are at the top of the league have been free flowing. Their main concern has to be the goalkeeping department, Irfan Bakti has to make the right choice for who to start on goal to have a chance on winning this tie. Kelantan haven't been their usual self, they are lacking confidence in front of goal, but their midfield is the best in the league. Nik Shahrul and Obina will be players in the center of defense for Kelantan are players to watch for this game. While Amri Yahya will look to add to Kelantan's misery of retaining a hat trick of league success.

A Stadium Paroi Derby on Saturday sees Negeri Sembilan vs ATM. Negeri Sembilan are under not ideally located at the bottom. While Premier League champions ATM will continue mounting an assault on the league tittle.

Johor Darul Takzim will look to ease pass Tactician Peter Bulter's T-Team at Larkin.

Felda United's Mohammad Ghaddar will want to prove his worth for his new-employers when the team meets PKNS FC, who wont have their new controversial signing until April.

I will be at Shah Alam Stadium tomorrow witnessing the Selangor vs Kelantan. Do hope for a cracking game.

2015 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers: Game 1 vs Qatar - Review

The national team travelled to the Middle East for their opening game of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against Qatar in Doha. Prior to the game, the Harimau Malaya were beaten by 2007 Asian Cup champions Iraq 3-0 in a so-called friendly.

At the Al-Sadd stadium, Qatar were 2-0 winners over the Malaysians. Malaysian viewers could only join the game in around the 20th minute due to broadcasting issues from the host venue. (Note: Qatar are the hosts of 2022 World Cup)

Match Analysis

As expected, Qatar were the dominant side throughout the game. They were quick, composed and out-muscling the Malaysians most of the time. The Malaysians did hold on for a goalless scoreline at half-time. 10 minutes into the second period, a fluke Ibrahim Khalfan free-kick put Qatar ahead and a goal deep into injury-time finished the Tigers off.

The Malaysian full-backs were poor. Asra and Reuben were easily outpaced by the Qatari players. They could not get a grip on the ball, losing it on the 2nd or 3rd touches. Reuben's positioning was woeful. He was caught napping on a number of occasions (He was at fault for the second goal). Asra misplaced a few passes as well. On the other hand, the two-centre backs were good. Aidil and Fadhli Shas were effective at the back, both thwarting the Qataris a number of times.

MSL returns!

Okay, a number of things happen while we were gone. We lost 2-0 to Qatar with a depleted attacking squad and the Malaysian Super League returns this Friday.

I'll be going to the Selangor vs Kelantan game on Friday and the Felda United vs Johor Darul Takzim FC next Friday. Will try to take photos for the blog.

Will write up MSL preview later.

Update

-Just to let you know I've recently join an independently run football website called www.tehtarikfootball.com as a contributor for local football news and opinions. I'll still be running this site with Vinod and future writers.

- On Nazmi Faiz, he hasn't touch his move on his Facebook page and twitter. Recently news broke out that he's getting paid 500 Euros for the past 6 months. If that was the case why didn't he go to the Malaysian embassy or contact FAM. I'm sure they could have helped out. There are a handful that sympathise with his recent news, while there are some are like Man-Up. I'll try to compile articles on this. Astro Arena's Hafizal Hamad just posted something thought provoking.

-The other day after watching a sports movie and while watching Manchester City vs Liverpool, I tweeted: "Would like to see a movie that deals with the issue with match fixing." Then BOOM! Match fixing scandal. Just the other blog post I posted 'Evening Chat.' I wrote quite a bit on Match-Fixing.

-Tomorrow is the big night Qatar vs Malaysia. Follow me kh4lilul if you want update on the game via twitter. Will be writing a post match after the game. Vinod will give his thoughts on the game as well on a separate post. Or joint post. We'll see.

Wonderboy.

Nazmi Faiz returns home after a very brief stint in Portugal. Partially all Malaysians are in a state of shock apart of the few who knew this move.

Background on Nazmi Faiz, he rose quickly up the ranks in the Harimau Muda set up. Coach Ong Kim Swee and FAM knew back than he has the potential to be one of best players in his generation. He is know for his technical ability, passing, vision and movement in the center of midfield. Was apart of the 2011 winning SEA games squad before making his move to Portugual to mid-table side SC Beira Mar, signing a 3-year deal back in May 2012.

Nazmi Faiz's move to Europe was seen as a joy for all Malaysians. Especially the up and coming younger one who idolized him in many ways. About a month ago he hit hot water via his twitter account because of some off the field issues.

Now he is back eith PKNS Selangor on a three year deal. Many thought yesterday (31 January) he will be back with Harimau Muda A for 6 months loan from his former parent club SC Beira Mar. Now it's not the case.

A lot of people smells something's fishy about this deal. Hopefully as the day goes by, more light will shed into this matter.

Malaysian Football Fans are wondering why? Many of us quite dumbfound of this decision.

The general verdict of this: Disappointed.

A friend said: "I''m very disappointed in Nazmi Faiz's decision to return. Kids and players all across Malaysia kill to have a chance like that. And he threw all of it away."

Handful are: "Interested to know what he has to say about this, alone with his own words no agents or advisors around."

"Nazmi Faiz was the first Malaysian to be in Fifa 13. Now he's gone thanks to Fifa 13's online update of teams."

To continue with the Fifa game, the above image just shows how good he could potentially be in Europe. Yes it's a game, but the data shows how good he can be.

That's all for now. Keep Calm and Rilek Fakri Saarani is still in Europe.
